Sit-ins and protests of municipal workers in the capital of Al-Ahwaz

According to reliable sources from the capital city of Ahwaz quoted to Ahwazi Centre for Human Rights (ACHR) that municipal workers in the eighth area of the Ahwaz capital protested for a third day in front of the municipal building on Saturday the 3rd of September 2016.

The source stated that reason behind the continuation of sit-ins protest of Ahwaz capital’s workers for a third day is due to non-payment of their salaries for over five months.

The source added that the workers has stopped working since Saturday morning, September 3, demanding payment of their salaries and benefits that are not paid by the municipality for several months.

The sources said that the municipality official stopped health insurance for workers, where they face great difficulties if they refer to hospitals, due to the high prices of medicines and hospital’s entitlements of in Ahwaz.

The ACHR has wrote the report about the Iranian security with help of revolutionary guard forces arrested 24 Ahwazi Arab municipality workers that have been sit- in front of the municipality building in the capital city of Ahwaz, on Monday the 13th of June 2016 and took them to an unknown location.

The Ahwazi Centre for Human Rights condemns the Iranian municipality’s official for not paying Ahwazi Arab entitlements where its obvious workers rights violations and calls upon UN workers rights rupture to criticizes Iranian for not paying Ahwazi Arab workers payment.
