The Ahwazi Centre for Human Rights condemns the Ahwazi leader’s execution

The Ahwazi Centre for Human Rights strongly condemns the Iranian occupation regime execution of Ahwazi leader Mr. Habib Chaab (AKA Habib Asyoud) on Saturday the 6th of May 2023.

Martyr Habib Chaab, Swedish – Ahwazi national, and ex-leader of the Arab Struggle Movement for the Liberation of Al-Ahwaz, was among the Ahwazis wanted by the Iranian regime’s intelligence service. Following a deplorable and cowardly operation, he was abducted from Turkey in 2020 and subsequently taken to Iran. Despite holding mock trial sessions, in which none of his lawyers were present, he was ultimately hanged on Saturday, May 6th, 2023, under the charge of “corruption on earth.”

The Ahwazi Centre for Human Rights can confirm that so-called “corruption on earth” is a broad crime that does not have precise criteria, and it is a tool that is being used by the Iranian occupation regime to execute opponents and all of those who disagree with the regime’s ideology.

In condemnation of this heinous crime, the Ahwazi Centre for Human Rights declares that the crimes of the Iranian occupation regime are continuing in killing Ahwazis in cold blood. The responsibility for this reprehensible act against humanity and our vulnerable Ahwazi people lies with the Iranian occupying regime.
