The Iranian regime is responsible for indirect genocide against Ahwazi Arab by diverting and
dehydrating Ahwazi Rivers and marshland and making their region as a most polluted region in the world, Faisal Maramazi the Executive Director of Ahwazi Centre for Human Rights (ACHR) told a UN headquarters in Geneva this week.
He drew attention to massive random arrests that taken place against Ahwazi football fans after end of match between Foullad (Ahwazi Football team) and Saudi Arabia team call Al-Hilal. The arrest begun to those who wore traditional Arabic dress that shows Iranian criminal act against defend less youth fans, said Maramazi.
After that he explained the reasons that led to horrible situation of air pollution and also acid rains in Al-Ahwaz, where thousands of Ahwazi citizens had referred to hospital for respiratory illness. The amount of dust particles in the air has reached to dangerous levels and exceeds to more than 70 times than health standard limit and has caused the people in Al-Ahwaz to breath dust instead of air, Maramazi added.
Addressing Human Rights NGOs and UN officials, Mr Maramazi called for the international community to support Ahwazi Arab people who are facing silent ethnic genocide by being most polluted region in the world. United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) has warned Iranian Authority about catastrophic atrocities of the marshes dehydrations and environmental degradations where Iran did not put warning into consideration. He also met with UN Special Rapporteur on Iran Ahmed Shaheed and Iranian Nobel Peace Prize Winner Shirin Ebadi to thank them for their support following a UNHRC meeting in which Iran faced global condemnation for its human rights policies.
The ACHR makes the following demands:
- Quickly revive the international wetlands and marshes that desiccated that acting as air purifiers
- Stop degrading our land and environment
