This is the fortress of Canaan, in the heart of occupied Ahwaz

The money that was collected,

The money that was spent on war,

Yet the people of this land were left without it.

This is the fortress of Canaan, in the heart of occupied Ahwaz,

With children full of energy and passion for play,

But in streets stripped of that joy,

Instead filled with household sewage.

For many years, the Islamic Republic has spent this people’s oil money on wars in other countries,

Yet has never cared for the people of this land.

As you can see in the picture, and according to this local journalist and this citizen—an advocate for children’s rights and civil rights in Ahwaz—they expressed their complaint against all officials, from the village head to the mayor and the governor, for neglecting the cleanliness and sanitation of the area.

Streets full of sewage have caused various diseases and health issues, especially for children—the very ones who will shape the future of this land. Unfortunately, this illegitimate and un-Islamic government, by ignoring and failing to address the health system here, has forced such a life upon a society where children and youth cannot hope for a good future.

With international efforts and continuous follow-ups regarding such environmental catastrophes, we call on all human rights and environmental organizations to take the necessary actions—both to pressure this corrupt and authoritarian system, and to support the citizens here. Immediate and urgent measures are needed to resolve this vital issue.
