Arrest of Arab Ahwazi Poet and Cultural Activist, Mostafa Halichi

Mostafa Halichi, a prominent Arab poet and the son of Jamal, was arrested by cyber police forces in early Azar 1403 (November-December 2024) on charges of connections with foreign entities.
According to human rights sources in Ahwaz, Mostafa Halichi, known for his cultural and artistic activities, has been subjected to severe physical and psychological torture while in detention. Reports indicate that his health condition is critical, and his family is deeply concerned about his physical and mental well-being.
It is worth noting that Halichi had previously been arrested in Aban 1399 (October-November 2020) due to his cultural activities. He was released after serving two years in Sheyban Prison in Ahwaz (Central Prison), but he remained under pressure and security threats.
This action against Mostafa Halichi is part of broader pressures on Ahwazi cultural and artistic activists aimed at restricting freedom of expression and suppressing the cultural and ethnic identity of the Arab people of Ahwaz.
