Meeting of Four Arab Ahwazi Political Prisoners with Their Families After Two Months

Four Arab political prisoners, Ali Majdam, Moein Khanafreh, Mohammadreza Moghadam, and Seyed Adnan Ghabishavi (Mousavi), who had been transferred to the solitary confinement cells of Sepidar prison in Ahvaz 70 days ago for the execution of their death sentences, met with their families four days ago.
This meeting was held under unusual circumstances, and reports indicate that after the meeting, these prisoners were returned to their solitary confinement cells. This has raised concerns that this meeting might be the last time these prisoners’ families see their loved ones, as such meetings are usually arranged just before the imminent execution of death sentences.
Ahwazi Arab prisoners have been subjected to severe repression for years due to their political, cultural, and civil activities, or for criticizing government policies. These repressions typically involve arbitrary detentions, harsh sentences, and executions following unfair trials.
These four prisoners are symbols of resistance against the discriminatory and repressive policies that target the basic rights of Ahwazi Arabs. Repeated calls for immediate intervention from international human rights organizations to halt the execution of these sentences continue.
