Yahya Naseri: An Ahwazi Political Prisoner’s Struggle for Medical Treatment and Justice

Yahya Naseri, an Ahwazi political prisoner who suffers from hemorrhoids, urgently needs surgery due to the worsening of his condition. However, judicial and security authorities are preventing him from being transferred to a hospital outside the prison for treatment.
Yahya Naseri was arrested during the 2005 demonstrations in Ahvaz. After his arrest, he was subjected to nine months of torture in solitary confinement by Ahvaz intelligence. Subsequently, in a brief and sham trial presided over by Judge Shabani, the First Branch of the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court sentenced him to death.
This sentence was later commuted to life imprisonment. Throughout the legal proceedings, he was also deprived of the right to have a lawyer.
Yahya Naseri has now been imprisoned for 18 years.
