Ahwazi Centre for Human Rights Statement Condemning the Execution of Hossein Mousavi<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Sunday, 21 September 2025, Hossein Mousavi, a 31-year-old Arab from the city of Abadan, was executed in Gachsaran Prison. He was the father of two young daughters and the sole breadwinner of a family struggling with poverty and deprivation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hossein Mousavi was one of many young men from the Arab nation of Ahwaz who, due to discriminatory state policies, widespread unemployment, and systemic poverty, was forced into difficult circumstances simply to provide food for his family. Instead of addressing these harsh economic and social realities, the judicial authorities imposed the harshest possible punishment on him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reports indicate that he was denied a fair trial. The processes of his arrest, interrogation, and prosecution were marred by serious violations of fundamental human rights. His family also faced pressure from security forces, and the legal proceedings lacked transparency at every stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Ahwazi Centre for Human Rights strongly condemns this execution and considers it a clear example of the ongoing and systematic targeting and elimination of Arab youth in Ahwaz. The Centre once again urges the international community to take immediate action to address the worsening human rights situation in Ahwaz, where the younger generation \u2014 deprived of justice, opportunity, and support \u2014 continues to fall victim to policies aimed not at ending inequality, but at silencing dissent and crushing resistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
