Yahya Naseri was arrested during the 2005 demonstrations in Ahvaz. After his arrest, he was subjected to nine months of torture in solitary confinement by Ahvaz intelligence. Subsequently, in a brief and sham trial presided over by Judge Shabani, the First Branch of the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court sentenced him to death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This sentence was later commuted to life imprisonment. Throughout the legal proceedings, he was also deprived of the right to have a lawyer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yahya Naseri has now been imprisoned for 18 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
