Ahwazi citizens have\ncontinued to see deaths and serious injuries from landmine explosions for more\nthan 30 years after the end of the 1980 &#8211; 1988 Iran-Iraq War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It has been reported that more than 20 million landmines were placed in Iran during the war. <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"According to a report published by the Monitor (Landmine and Cluster Munitions Monitor) more than 10,000 have been victims of landmines since 1988.  (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.the-monitor.org\/en-gb\/reports\/2018\/iran\/view-all.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">According to a report published by the Monitor (Landmine and Cluster Munitions Monitor) more than 10,000 have been victims of landmines since 1988. <\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cThe Monitor identified a total of 9,764\ncasualties (2,768 killed; 6,995 injured; one unknown) from landmines and ERW in\nIran between 1988 and 2014, based on the data gathered in 2015 that updated\ncasualty information for previous years.[10] As of 2006, the UN had reported\nthat there had been approximately 10,000 casualties in Iran.[11] No data is\navailable on casualties among security forces in years prior to 2008.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong>Source:<\/strong><\/em><strong> <\/strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.the-monitor.org\/en-gb\/reports\/2018\/iran\/view-all.aspx\"><strong>http:\/\/www.the-monitor.org\/en-gb\/reports\/2018\/iran\/view-all.aspx<\/strong><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is worth noting that Iran still continues to\nplant land mines which adds up to that nightmare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Details\nof landmines incidents affected Ahwazi citizens<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2019 16<sup>th<\/sup> February<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Land mine explosions killed a 23-year-old Ahwazi\ncitizen in Falahiyeh city (Shadegan).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the 16<sup>th<\/sup> of Feb, A 23-year-old young\nAhwazi citizen was killed as a result of land mine explosions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to local sources, this young man, called\nMohammad Hanzal-zadeh, has found the land mine nearby the neighbourhood and out\nof curiosity he brought it home with him. After getting home the land mine\nexploded and shattered the unemployed young man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In that explosions Mohammad died, a woman was\ninjured and transferred to the hospital and the explosions destroyed Mohammad\u2019s\nhome too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The land mines and explosive devices left during the Iran-Iraq war is causing deaths and injuries to a number of Arab fellow citizens in the cities of Sus (Shush) and Maysan (Dashte Azadegan) every year, but the land mine in Falahiyeh city (Shadegan) has been unprecedented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"640\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 352 \/ 640;\" width=\"352\" controls src=\"http:\/\/acfh.info\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/1.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"640\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 352 \/ 640;\" width=\"352\" controls src=\"http:\/\/acfh.info\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/2.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2018 12<sup>th<\/sup> March<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A land mine blast killed an Ahwazi citizen in Sus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2018 9<sup>th<\/sup> March<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A 23-year-old young Ahwazi from Eyn Du lost his left foot, following a mine blast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"974\" height=\"547\" src=\"http:\/\/acfh.info\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Picture1-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3056\" srcset=\"https:\/\/acfh.info\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/02\/Picture1-1.png 974w, https:\/\/acfh.info\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/02\/Picture1-1-300x168.png 300w, https:\/\/acfh.info\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/02\/Picture1-1-768x431.png 768w, https:\/\/acfh.info\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/02\/Picture1-1-390x220.png 390w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 974px) 100vw, 974px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2018 27<sup>th<\/sup> February<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">4 Ahwazi citizens injured over the land mine explosion\nin Sus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2018 27<sup>th<\/sup> January<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In another event two young Arabs were\ninjured for the same reason, land mine explosion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On 27<sup>th<\/sup> of January 2018, two\nyoung Arabs named Ali Dahimi, 17, and Mohammad Dahimi, 16, from Aldibays in\nMeshdakh were injured in a land mine explosion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2017 8<sup>th <\/sup>April<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"http:\/\/acfh.info\/en\/?p=2284\"><strong>An Ahwazi young died in the town of al-Fakkah west of Al-Ahwaz on Saturday the 8th April 2017 as a result of the explosion of a landmine from the remnants of the Iranian-Iraqi war in the 1980s.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2017 21<sup>st<\/sup> February <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A young Ahwazi citizen was badly injured and shrapnel hit his face and belly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Ahwazi Centre for Human Rights\nreiterates the need for the international community to hold Iranian government\naccountable for letting this catastrophic disaster to continues for more that 3\ndecades.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>We, Ahwazi Centre for Human Rights are calling on all human\nrights organizations, including Amnesty International and the European\nParliament to address the situation of Ahwazi Arabs and put an end to human\nrights violations towards Ahwazis.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Hossein Bouazar is a human rights activist\nfrom the Ahwaz region in Iran.
