The Ahwazi Centre for Human Rights (ACHR) condemns by the strongest possible terms, the mass secret executions against 21 Kurds activists in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj, at dawn Tuesday the 2nd<\/sup> of August 2016.<\/p>\n

The ACHR emphasizes that the majority of those executed have denied any links to any extremist organization, and complained of fabricating the charges against them by the intelligence services, where most of the defendants confirmed that they did not carry any weapon and did not carry out any acts of violence, and was the only activity to establish the ranks of religious and disseminate the doctrine of Sunnis and the community in a peaceful and legal, But the authorities fabricated charges against them with membership in the organization, “Tawhid and Jihad” or advocate for extremist Salafi views and that confessions were taken under torture by the intelligence services.<\/p>\n

The ACHR also condemns the execution of Barzan Nasrallah Zadeh, that was arrested and sentenced to death, which is under the legal age, the age of 17 years old at the time.<\/p>\n

At the other hand, defense lawyers of the executed activists stated that they were not given the right to full access to the files and the course of the investigation, as they do not have enough time in court to defend their clients.<\/p>\n

The lawyers also appeal against the legitimacy of the court, where they said it lacked from the minimum legal fair trial standards, and it was clear intervention of intelligence in the course of the investigation and trial, death sentences were issued in advance.<\/p>\n

The Ahwazi Centre for Human Rights condemns the theatrical trial and forced confessions taken from the accused under severe physical and psychological torture, and deplores Iran’s official propaganda campaign to demonize the Kurd activists in Iran in linking them to atonement and terrorism.<\/p>\n

The Centre also calls for the United Nations organizations concerned with human rights and international organizations put pressure on the Iranian government for the immediate cessation of executions of political prisoners in Iran, especially Kurds, Ahwazi Arab and Baloch activists, conducting legal and transparent trials and provide attorneys to defend them.<\/p>\n
