On Systematic Discrimination Against the Arab Nation in Ahwaz

A recently received video from the city of Guriyeh in Ahwaz, obtained by the Ahwaz Human Rights Center – UK, vividly reveals structural discrimination, entrenched Arabophobia, and widespread human rights violations against the Arab youth and adolescents.

Talented young individuals excelling in sports, acting, and fluent in several foreign languages, despite earning national medals and representing the national team, are deprived of their most basic right to education. The residents of Guriyeh have repeatedly requested the establishment of a proper school for their children, yet this fundamental demand remains ignored.

In sports as well, instead of receiving facilities and support, they are forced to train with homemade equipment such as bottles filled with dirt. This situation results from deliberate policies by non-native officials aiming to gradually erase the Arab identity in Ahwaz.

While state media proudly showcase and praise the achievements of Persian-speaking children, the children of the Arab nation in Ahwaz, despite their talents, are ignored solely due to their identity.

The Ahwaz Human Rights Center – UK strongly condemns this discrimination and oppression and calls on international organizations to take action to end these injustices.
