Arrest of a 17-year-old student at a ceremony after protesting the transfer of Karun River and air pollution

Ali Ka’ab Amir, an Arab environmental activist and a student from Ahwaz who was arrested on February 8, 2017 by agents of the Iranian regime. The agents threatened his father for his follow up to find his son’s where about. According to his father, the intelligence officers even broke Ali Ka’ab Amir’s left hand during the arrest. They searched the whole house, seized computers, and Ali Ali’s mobile phones and then they wanted to take Ali with them.

Ali Ka’ab Amir young, 17, is a third-year high school student and resident of Kianabad city. He was arrested by agents of the Intelligence Agency from his home. He has been active in social networks in protest of Karun River water transmission and air pollution, and has also participated in several popular gatherings, including the formation of human circles in protest of Karun River water transfer.

Mohammad Ka’ab Amir said: “They only want to know where their son is, and under what charges he has been arrested. Until now they have not responded. The agents told his father why Ali wore his Arabic clothings and was near the Karun River with Arabic banners in opposition to Karun’s water transfer. He has been there several times with Chafeeh and Dashdasheh, along with several other Arab youth, with banners such as “Alive Karun”, “Karun’s Water Should not Be Moved”.

On the 17th of January, three teachers and a civil activist were arrested. Issa Haddad, Mojahed Zergani, Naji Heydari were arrested from their home. No one has any news of where they are kept or the charges that the government has arrested them under.

On the 7th of February, Amir Zergani 23 year old from Zergan city in Ahwaz were arrested.

Zakieh Nissi 26 year old a civil activist were arrest for her civil activism.

All above arrestees where arrested for protesting the Karun River water transmission and air pollution.
