A Photographer and other Ahwazis Arrested in Ahwaz by Iranian Security Forces

The security guards arrested a journalist Milad Bahri. On 15th of May 2019, Milad Bahri 29 years old Ahwazi citizen, a cultural activist, journalist and photographer from Shadegan city was arrested by security guards and transferred to an unknown location. Milad Bahri, in addition to cultural activities, has had many activities in covering the news related to the flood areas and the suffering of the Ahwazi people.

However, the reason for the arrest of this Ahwazi citizen and the charge aren’t clear.

Since the floods in Ahwazi region and after that, the IRGC has arrested more than 70 civil activists, humanitarian aid workers, Ahwazi poets and teachers, “some of them were subjected to physical torture and pressure at the Iranian intelligence prisons.

The detainees are from Shushtar, Hamidieh and several other areas of Ahwaz, some of them are charged with “participating in street protests,” “receiving cash aid from abroad to help flood victims,” ​​and “publishing related rumors online”.

Milad Bahri, a photographer and journalist from Shadegan, was transferred to the Iranian intelligence prison after a few days of interrogations after several days of interrogation at the Iranian intelligence in Shadegan.

The ACHR and other activists still have no news about the detention of this journalist and the alleged charges against him.

Aside to his activism Milad has covered the news related to the flooded areas and the transmission of problems in the Khuzestan province in the recent floodings.

All this aside, Iranian regime still continues to arrest Ahwazi activists. On 23rd of May 2019, Heydar Doraghi19 years old was arrested by undercover members of Iranian intelligence.
