An Ahwazi young killed by landmine explosion in west of Al-Ahwaz

An Ahwazi young died in the town of al-Fakkah west of Al-Ahwaz on Saturday the 8th April 2017 as a result of the explosion of a landmine from the remnants of the Iranian-Iraqi war in the 1980s.

According to Ahwazi sources the boy and his surname is Kanani suffered serious injuries after the explosion of a landmine during his livestock in the desert al-Fakkah, to be deceased later after he was transferred to the General Hospital in the city of Susa.

According to official statistics, mine victims in western Ahwaz, the scene of the Persian-Iraqi war from 1988 to 2012, had reached 437 dead and 864 wounded. These statistics also showed that the area of land contaminated by mines is estimated at 2 million hectares.

Since the beginning of 2017, mine victims have been counted as four injures and death in the Quneitra, Musian, Susa and Maysan areas of Al-Ahwaz.
