Rajae Shahr prison: An Ahwazi Arab and Kurdish prisoners on hunger strike

Reliable source informed Ahwazi Centre for Human Rights (ACHR) that Khalid Hardani, an Ahwazi Arab and Afshin Hiretian Kurdish prisoners, both civil activists are on indefinite hunger strike started from Friday 19 December 2014, in solidarity with the demands of the 28 Kurdish political prisoners who are on hunger strike in the central prison of Orumiyeh city.

The prisoners Khalid and Afshin demanded from international human rights institutions that do not stand idly in front of the heinous crime that carried out by Iranian authorities where 10 Kurdish political prisoners facing execution in the Orumiyeh city prison.

28 political prisoners are on hunger strike for more than a month, and most of prisoners suffering from severe low blood pressure, excessive weakness, and also number of them missed their awareness.

It is to be noted that an Ahwazi prisoner Khalid Hardani spent 15 years of his captivity in Rajai Shahr prison in Iran’s city of Karaj, after he was sentenced to life imprisonment with some of his family (Rasoul Hardani) members in 2000, and without any holiday leave and physical treatment since his arrest, where he suffers from a stomach ulcer illness and his health deteriorated several times.

Khalid Hardani by living in inhumane and cruel conditions, went on hunger strike in protest against the inhuman prosecution and degrading treatment that have been subjected at the hands of prison’s officials a few months ago.

On the other hand Ahwazi Centre for Human Rights (ACHR) and international humanitarian organizations announced their solidarity and sympathy with the prisoners on hunger strike and pledged to pass on their voices and suffering to the international institutions.
