Arrest of an Ahwazi Islamic preacher

According to source within Al-Ahwaz quoted to Ahwazi Centre for Human Rights (ACHR) that an Islamic preacher named as Bagher Na’ami (also known as Gholami) has been arrested on early hours (1 am) of Sunday 6th of March 2016 in Sheyban city northeast of Ahwaz capital.

Mr Bagher is in his forty of age, married and has two children, studied Sharia law in Iraq and Syria, after inspection and scattering his belonging was arrested and taken to an unknown place with a bunch of books where his family has no news yet about the place of detention.

Mr Na’ami was arrested before on August 2012 and 17th December 2013 with charges of Enmity with Shiism and link up with foreign countries, working as Taxi driver in Sheyban city.

Source added that arrest came when intelligence service has arrested 12 Ahwazi youth from Sheyban city on 24th of February 2016 and released the majority of them three days later and kept two Ahwazi men named as Mr Sami Hamidawi and Mr Abo Asma Neisi in intelligence service detention where apparently the arrest of Mr Na’ami reported to be linked with their detention.

Ahwazi Centre for Human Rights strongly condemns arbitrary and random arrest against Ahwazi Arab youth as it violating the most fundamental principles of humanity. The Centre also calls for release of detainee without any condition and centre carries Iranian authorities’ full responsibility for the detainee ‘s health and safety in case he faces harmful interference.
