Assassination of another Ahwazi citizen

By Hossein Bouazar

The Iranian occupation forces assassinated the young Ahwazi citizen, Mohammad Al-Zarqani, last Monday morning in the Al-Zorqan suburb.

Eyewitnesses added that the Iranian security forces shot live bullets at Mohammad who was only 25 years old unmarried. He was shot for protesting the repressive respose by the occupation forces against Ahwazi citizens.

Our sources reported that operations of targeting citizens in Al-Ahwaz by the security forces are not new and they come within the context of comprehensive security plans that the occupation authorities are pursuing in Al-Ahwaz. They exercise a policy of maximum pressure on citizens, mechanisms of arrest, torture, threats and Assassination to fully control all joints of the country.

We, the Ahwazi Centre for Human Rights (ACHR), concerns, while Ahwazi Arabs faced continued oppression and discrimination, the most significant human rights issues included a high number of executions for false confession and false crimes without fair trials of individuals. Torture; harsh and life-threatening prison conditions; arbitrary detention and imprisonment; of hundreds of political prisoners, are just few examples of how the Iranian regime violates the human rights.

We are calling upon Mr. Javaid Rehman the United Nations special rapporteur for the situation of human rights in Iran and Mrs Agnes Callamard the UN special rapporteur on extraJudicial execution to intervene and stop the Iranian criminal regime from executing innocent prisoners that were arrested without any legal warrant.
